Amy with her horse Dollar.

I am incredibly lucky to work with a fantastic team of staff and students who are my friends as well as my colleagues.
— Amy

Amy had her first real lesson at Hayfield EC in Aberdeen when she was 8 years old. From that day on she was hooked! She progressed working at Hayfield for free lessons and when she was studying she rode on the University Teams, working fulltime in the summer holidays too. The day after her final Uni exam she started working as a trainee instructor at Hayfield.

Amy is the Yard Manager at Strathorn Farm Stables, a BHS Riding and Road Safety trainer & assessor and BHS Intermediate Instructor. Her qualifications are:

  • BHS Level 4 Senior Coach in complete Horsemanship

  • Level 5 Stable Manager

  • UKCC Level 3

She teaches freelance for pony clubs and also does clinics for livery yards as well as teaching private clients in her spare time. She has competed British Dressage at Elementary level, British Show Jumping at 1.05m and British Eventing at Novice level with her horse Dollar. She now competes with her young horse Fabia and hopes she will follow Dollar up the ranks and beyond.
