Riding Demos – Massive Thank You!
“I just want to pass on my massive THANK YOU to Kara, Catriona and Morven (and June, Laura, Prince, Ragan, Pebbles and Laddie!) for the excellent riding demos last night! What a fantastic session!!
I’m still trying to process the enormity of what I witnessed but as someone very much at the beginning of my riding journey, being able to watch and listen to coach commentary and learn is absolutely invaluable! The only time I get to see other riders is the 5 mins before/after my lessons and then it feels a little potentially off putting for those being taught for me to stand and watch, so to have the luxury of being encouraged to really watch fantastic riders work with different horses, hear the coach’s insights and then be able to start to see what Kara is seeing and hear what Catriona and Morven are feeling is incredible! For sure, part of learning to riding is definitely about seeing.
I’m not saying that’ll be able to apply anything I learnt right away but, boy, do I feel even more motivated now!
Please run sessions like these again! I know they will be a huge amount of work for everyone involved but they really are such a fantastic learning opportunity.”

Family Summer Hack and First Riding Lesson
“Strathorn provided us with a wonderful country hack along the river and countryside. Their staff are kind and attentive. The younger members of our family especially enjoyed a fantastic first lesson and pony groom making it the highlight of their holiday. Even the members of our family who didn’t ride enjoyed being shown and introduced to each and every pony on site. Nothing was too much trouble: the horses, ponies, facilities and staff are friendly and patient and made this a wonderful experience for all who visit. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area”

From Austria to Aberdeenshire
“We travelled all the way from Austria just to ride the gentle giants at Strathorn Farm Stables. (Visiting beautiful Scotland was of course a very welcome side effect of our journey to the stables.) A hack through the Scottish highlands on draft horses felt like the perfect holiday after a demanding semester of uni. We rode Mack, Kirsty and Wullie; to say they are impressive, absolutely breath-taking, and lovely horses would be an understatement. Liam took us out on all three hacks, accompanied by Catriona and Morven. Everyone on the team was so kind and forthcoming, they even picked us up from the bus stop. It was a pleasure, thank you so much for everything, we hope we’ll be back sometime!”

“Had a fantastic day at the Clydesdale driving experience this summer. George was wonderful and full of knowledge that he generously passed on. I now know how to plat manes and tails, thank you Kalli for that! Driving was amazing – will deffo be back! Also had a pre show lesson with Liam who was calm, encouraging and informative. I’d like to thank him for teaching me and giving me some tips about showing, as Maggie (my Clydesdales) and I won our class, and have qualified for the Ridden Clydesdale class at Blair horse trials! ”
